SUSPECT ONE
Tan Leck Hock
Blk 215, #03-782, Chestnut Drive, Singapore 678215
Gender:
- Male
Race:
- Chinese
Scene:
- Bus 184
Time:
- Noon
Age:
- Middle aged man
- 30 or 40 years old
Physical appearance:
- shabby-looking
- unshaven
- untidy hair which looked as if it was not washed or combed for days
- matching navy blue attire that had crumpled folds
Behavior:
- placed two small red plastic bags on the seat opposite him (the contents seemed to be a bottled water, a towel and some fruits)
- slouching in his seat
- shaking his legs on the opposite seat(the one without his plastic bags)
- held his black scandal with one hand
- plucking particles off his feet with the other hand
- rubbed his thumb and forefinger and middle finger to get rid of the disgusting particles
- oblivious and cannot be bothered with the other passengers staring at him with disgust
- closed his eyes, the last finger digging his left ear
Then I alighted from the bus, thankfully.
Opinions:
- He appears to be living a dull and monotonous life. He does not seem to be enthusiatic about where he is going or what is he going to do. The very moment he boards the bus, though there were quite a lot of empty seats behind, he stops at the very first seats and positions himself in that sloppy manner. Someone with dreams and goals would not have time to notice particles on their feets or dig their ears. I think that they will look out of the window and seated upright, looking ready for the day.
- He is not particular about his outward appearance at all. He doesn’t iron his ‘uniform’, he doesn’t keep his face cleanly-shaven, he doesn’t comb his hair… … Thus, I feel that he idles at home and lazes around. How long does it takes one to do all that before they leave their homes? 10minutes? 15minutes?
- He is unappreciative. In my opinion, Im quite certain that the fruits, bottled water and towel in the plastic bags is prepared by his wife. This is because i don’t believe a tattered guy like him will actually make it a point to do all that.
- Although thoughtful, I guess his wife may be more or less like him. After all, she didn’t iron his clothes nor correct him of those ugly behaviors
Conclusion:
- It is often heard and said that people should not judge one by its cover. However true it is, I still feel that there is a need to groom yourself and make yourself presentable. An untidy and sloppy look may give us an idea of a lazy, idle person. A clean and neat look, on the other hand, tends to give us an idea of a organized person. Therefore, I conclude appearances are important to a certain extent because it shows us who and what kind of person you really are.
SUSPECT 2
Boo Jun Ming
Blk 89, #05-198, Dover Drive, Avenue 6, Singapore 673198
Gender:
- Male
Race:
- Chinese
Scene:
- Bukit Panjang Plaza
- Outside a jewellery shop
Time:
- Evening
Age:
- Elderly
- 50 to 60 years old
Physical appearance:
- clad in a black and dark brown checkered shirt and black pants
- gold-rimmed glasses
- black hair and a few streaks of whites( I think he dyed his hair black)
- short white beard
- slightly hunched back
Behavior:
- gripping onto his ‘walking aid’ and leaning forward slightly
- unaware that he was standing in an abrupt spot
- mouth agape
- he was staring blankly at something inside the shop
- he was standing so still, I thought I did not see him blink at all
Opinions:
- He was concentrating so hard that I fastened my footsteps and peered into the shop. Inside my head, I was generating thoughts and guesses. Was it a very beautiful gem he wants to get for his lovely wife? What was it?
- A man dressed in dark grey attire was on the ladder, pasting posters on the pillars of the shop. He carefully peeled off the top layer then pressed it down gently yet firmly with his free hand. So, this was what got the elderly man so interested.
- I think that previously the elderly man might have wonder how are all the colourful posters of gems, rings and bracelets done on the pillars and on this very day, he finally witnessed the process with his very dear eyes.
- The elderly man must have been fascinated by the process if not he will not look so amazed or surprised.
Conclusion:
- When I first entered Bukit Panjang Plaza, I immediately caught sight of this elderly man. Firstly, because he was standing in the middle of the way and secondly, he looked really engrossed in what he was observing.
- I find it rather amusing that the elderly man is observing the man doing his job in the jewellery shop and I am observing him as well as his observation. And it makes me wonder, was somebody else watching me when I was watching the elderly man watching the man on his job… … People-watch is fun and interesting
Extreme Scenario Of My 2Lucky Characters From ‘People-Watch’:
The bus halted abruptly and the door flung open. Some passengers began to glance at their watches and frowned with displeasure. Mr Boo climbed up the steps cautiously and gave the driver a slight nod as a mark of gratitude. As he tapped his ezlink card, he smiled weakly to some of the passengers looking his way. Mr Tan was snoring in his favourite seat, his legs up on the usual seats. Mr Boo reached for the bars to prevent himself from falling when the bus jerked violently, his ‘walking aid’ knocked against Mr Tan. Mr Tan’s eyebrow met in a wrinkled ‘V-shaped’ and he rolled his eyes at Mr Boo before shutting them again. Mr Boo blinked several times slowly. He could not believe his eyes. This inconsiderate man was occupying 3seats alone and he had the cheek to roll his eyes at Mr Boo. The bus took a sharp turn and Mr Boo sat at the very edge of the seats where Mr Tan placed his two feet. Mr Boo was very careful not to touch Mr Tan nor his plastic bags. Rubbing his feet together, Mr Tan stretched his legs apart, his right leg kicking Mr Boo in the stomach accidentally. Mr Boo let out a silent cry and crumpled into a heap, his hands hugging his abdomen. Mr Tan was shocked to see Mr Boo sitting there and he began to shout at Mr Boo.
“Who ask you to sit there? Why you go and sit?” Mr Tan confronted Mr Boo, raising his voice.
“Young man, are you blind? The sign there reads, ’Please give up this seat to someone who needs it more than you do’. As a man in my fifties and coming sixties, I believe I do qualify for this hot seat. And mind you, I was just sitting by the edge”Mr Boo retaliated, his eyes flaring with flames.
“Oh yes, I can read fairly well, old man. The sign clearly says, ‘Please give up’. The decision still lies with me, the person sitting here right? Did I give up my seat to you?” Mr Tan snarled, his lips curled into a grin.
Mr Tan was standing up now, his fists clenched. He looked as if he was ready to fight the poor old man anytime now. He shoved Mr Boo’s shoulder roughly and growled. The driver, passengers were all looking at them in awe.
“Oh, I give up my seat to you then, my literate, fine, young gentlemen. I need not this seat.” Mr Boo replied, his face was all smiles as he approached for the exit.
